I mean for this coming weekend Nov 26 & Nov 27, weather forecast says it is warming up a bit (daily high at around 8°C), so I am thinking to head out to Muskoka area for one more time kayak fishing:-)

I am wondering if anyone would know if at this time a typical lake in Muskoka area already has say a thin layer of ice around shoreline such that it is no longer possible to launch a kayak. Anyone knows?

Thanks in advance, and cheers

Only the small pothole lakes are skimmed, nothing more than half an inch anywhere and only on the absolute smallest shallowest lakes/ponds. Based on the weather, possibly second weekend of December for first reasonable ice in my area, and I m pretty bold. I mulled tossing the canoe in for whitefish and walleye one last time if the wind cooperates. Also thinking of specks from canoe if there isn’t too much of a skim on the stocked lakes. Good luck! Stay safe! Water is awful cold.

Thank you for the detailed info, and I will be "there" tomorrow Saturday:-)
