Your videos are always fun to watch dude. It always boggles my mind how you can get the same results as others, but in a kayak. Simcoe can whip up waves in no time, and you're pretty darn brave to be out there.

Great catch!

BTW, how does the kayak handle those 4-6 foot waves that the sport boats make when they whip past with someone wake surfing? If a 4-6 foot wave hits me broadside in a 23-footer, you gotta hang on for life

I have kayak fished for 8 years (seasons), with each season out on water at least 40 times, so I guess by now I am aware of/familiar with/not afraid of what I am doing LOL

I had had kayak outriggers (stabilizers) with my kayak ever since I flipped my kayak on Lake Ontario (but close to shore) at night time/in total darkness back in 2014 (which is the only time I ever flipped kayak and ended up in water), until about month ago when I got some issue with the outriggers. So now I am just on the kayak with no outriggers.

A few years back there were a few times when I was out on my kayak off BBP deep water with strong wind around or even over 35KM/H with some high and nasty waves.

As to how to handle waves, when I see big waves especially waves from big passing boat, and if I feel any danger I'd just slightly paddle my kayak so as to position kayak perpendicular to the waves. No biggie so far....

Nice catch

I'd personally feel very claustrophobic on such a confined space and such a small vessel. However I realize there are advantages to kayak fishing too, and for me the biggest one is not to have to tow a boat every time i want to go fishing, oh well!....

Plus you ccould launch a kayak literally anywhere you can step onto water. Try that with a big boat-)

You will find a HUGE majority of these guys here are WAITING for ICE!!......LOL....

As the matter of fact.......probably there are more people fishing Lake Simcoe in the Winter, than in the Summer.

The guys here DO NOT like to hear someone saying...."Please let this winter go quickly"......LOL...LOL....

What we want to hear is this ......PLEASE BRING ON THE ICE , QUICKLY.......LOL...

Yes I wish there was more time to fish as well but.....I feel sorry for the guys waiting for the water to freeze up hard and thick enough to be safe to get out there and do some ice fishing. Anticipation is both exciting and frustrating. As for open water fishing in 20c out there in the sun...... It will be more like 2c when I go pike fishing on Friday. LOL. That's if I can find some huge minnows for bait. No monster minnows.....No pike fishing. Good luck everybody with ice season coming soon. Stay safe.

Ha, Ha I know bro

It's kind of an ongoing joke because I am the worst Canadian alive. I don't like weather under 20c

I'm all about ice fishing - but I go too broke in the summer with my boat to invest in the ice fishing gear to get in on the fun. If someone were to invite me out, I'd be all about it - I always bring a good stock of beer I even have a small ice fishing rod that I pulled out of Simcoe from 100+ ft down when trolling one day

You are absolutely correct!

Lake Simcoe is probably the most heavily pressured lake during the winter months. That pressure has most likely increased since the pandemic arrived.

Ice fishing is a relatively inexpensive activity that people can get their whole family involved in.

As much as I want to see more people take up the sport, it can certainly be frustrating at times to find a spot that isn't occupied. LOL It's a catch 22.

At any rate - there's still a month of bow hunting left, and a couple more duck/goose shoots before I start to think about ice fishing. LOL
Here's to a good and safe season for everyone!
