That's like asking if my brown shoes are light brown or dark brown, how about a fishing zone to make the answer a little easier.

I'd suggest reading the regs for yourself so you get the correct answer

Those replies aren't helpful gents. He is asking if there's a change. He would need to know what the size limit was last year and this year. All you see online is 2022 regs.

Looking at 2023 regs it appears the same as 2022. Slot Walleye - S-2 and C-1; must be between 40-45 centimetres

In my zone 15 it’s 4 walleye on sport license only one of the fish over 18.1”. Nothing changed this year. I assume you’re asking because of the proposed changes to a couple FMZ. Those are still just proposal and nothing has changed or will change until at least 2024 according to my friends daughter in MNR. I imagine any changes to regs, as major as they may be, would be widely published with plenty of warning and publication.

Well if the original poster is asking if there is a change this year from last year that would leave me to believe he already knows what last year was so pointing out an easy location to find the regulations would be helpful in my opinion. Also as pointed out what zone is being asked about. There are 11 or so zones that could be considered northern lake areas. I could be missing something but looking at the 11 zones 1 through 8 and 10 are S-4 and C-2 1 over 46cm. This does not count any exceptions that may be specified when digging deeper in each zone. 9 is S-2 and C-1 with no size limit specified unless there are exceptions at lakes included in that area. Zone 11 includes Lake Nipissing so questions on that zone might have shown up in the Lake Nipissing thread. The info you provided is the same as Lake Nipissing but is not reliant to other northern lake zones and therefore might not be helpful either.

I would encourage everyone to read the regulations themselves including exceptions and not rely on information provided on any forum. A CO is not going to care what you read online unless it was the actual regulations.

With out regs and zones and exceptions to regs how can anyone accurately answer the OP’s question or even point them to the correct page in the regs to help them out?

Only true answer for such a broad question is to read the regs or use Fish on Line to help. Fish on Line you can find your lake or area and get more specific regulation directly from that resource.
