Played hooky today, got one last kick at the can, the weather was irresistible. I told my boss it was for “efficient use of sunshine”…. He’s all about efficiency haha. Took a buddy out to “Mommy” Lake…. Can I still call it that when my son is not with me?.. anyway, launched by 9:30am, fished until 1pm. Caught a new PB whitefish and some great walleye, I kept 3 massive whitefish and one 26” walleye (inhaled the vibrato to the gills) and my buddy kept a 22” and 18” walleye. We released a few between 20-23 inches. Caught a couple herring and a couple tiny walleye too. Jigging 40-50fow on the flats, by the end of the lake with the river inflow.
Boat gos away this weekend for the winter…. Time to rig the ice rods! (Maybe one last canoe outing for brookies mid November)

Sweet day congrats.
Do you eat the whitefish skin?
Scaled whitefish skin is delicious. Nothing fishy or off putting like lakers. Beer battered or plain old fish crisp, sooooo goooood! Even smoked it’s great.
