Hey all,

My buddy and I have had a New years long weekend trip on the calendar for awhile now, with plans to make the 6-7 hour drive from Southern Ontario to fish several lakes between North Bay and Temagami. Obviously with the big snowfall last week and the warming trend over new years, conditions are not ideal.

We're prepared to suck it up and deal with the tough walking, slushy conditions, as this is one of the only weekends we have free this season. That being said, how's the ice on the back lakes up there? We've got some small (20-50 acre) lakes we want to hit and I assume those little guys should have plenty of ice under the snow/slush still, but I'd hate to be wrong and make the long drive for nothing.

Any input would be hugely appreciated, and I hope you all have a safe and happy new year (hopefully on the ice!)

Cheers,
Ben

Sudbury small lakes have enough ice for walking or snowmobiling but with the heavy snow and calling for rain its going to be really slushy
