Hi all, looking to have a steelhead rod made, I've been using my old man's custom for a while now and absolutely love it, think it's time for my own.

Does anyone have any experience with these North Fork rods? I spoke with a nice rod builder guy who suggested these and was hoping to get a second opinion. Any thoughts?

Someone also suggested looking at Mudhole or Rainshadow blanks, worst case I'll go with a CTS but they're not my first pick. Any thoughts would be great thanks!

CTS is my go to blank for custom float rods. I've owned 4 different affinity blanks, I'd like to try out their DQ offerings as a conversion build. As for Northfork blanks the IM is very similar to the iconic Loomis IMX. Slower action than I'm used to.

I'd recommend CST 3-6 lb 13ft 2pc over 4-8lb 13ft 2 piece CST if they still make them. Close to original IMX. I own both IMX and 3-6 CTS.

I did not try North Fork but spoke with 2 ppl who did , not very positive feedback.

If an IMX a rod seems to be the gold standard why not get a rod built out of that blank or are they discontinued? I built a steelhead drift rod out of a 7 weight IMX 9 foot over thirty years ago and it has served me well. Or are these other makes of blanks better? Just curious.
