My heater buddy works fine on 1lbers but not on 5lb or 20lb tanks. I have the filter on the line. Could the hose be clogged? Any suggestions?

If you open too fast it won't work. You can actually experiment, it was happening to me when I first switched to tanks!

Turn the dial to pilot, then hold it down for 30 seconds or so to purge the air from the line.

X2... the length of the hose determines how long you will need to purge.. I switched from a 6' hose to a 3' hose because of this. Hold pilot down until you smell propane... click the ignitor a few times then you will see it start to sputter

Tried all the suggestions other buying a shorter hose; nothing worked. Finally hooked up a 1lber on one side and big tank on the other. Fired up then disconnected the 1lber. Worked fine on large tank; finally! Thanks again for all the tips. Hopefully everyone gets out on safe ice soon. I’m off to a put & take lake this weekend.

Sometimes the thermocouple builds up with carbon, and restricts it from telling the main valve to open. A small wire brush can Sometimes buy you another season of use if that's the problem.
