Morning fella's. Like most people, I'm itching to get out for ice fishing. Was hoping someone from the north could chime in with some info. I just resigned from my career, and have the time to go fish this winter, so hoping to pack the gear and head north. I've found some promising small lakes between Latchford and Timmons, and was wondering if there's a chance the weather's been cold enough up there?

Cheers

Scott

That's a very vast area, so hard to answer and there is going to be a lot of variability from lake to lake depending on size/depth/currents etc.

Having said that, there are a lot of currently fishable lakes much further south, so most small lakes in that area SHOULD be good. I've been out a few times south of North Bay over the last couple of weeks under variable conditions. Lakes that didn't lose ice during the recent thaw have firmed up nicely over the last few days.

As always, use common sense and caution, but I'd imagine you're good to go on a lot of waterbodies up there.
