I might be in Port Perry tomorrow, if so I’ll check out the lake.

Cheers

Thanks Kerry! I know there’s obviously not enough to fish, just wondering if there’s a sign of anything starting is all. Cheers 🍻

Had some errands to do up in Port. Stopped by the public launch in town.
It’s covered over but doesn’t look safe. I’m sure that snow on top is making it tough for making ice. A few wet spots can be seen.

I went and checked some ice this morning, it’s super inconsistent. Lots of white ice and soft ice. With the snow we are suppose to get today it’s going to be a bit yet. Thickest I found was almost 5” but a foot away was 3”

Not liking the forecast the next few days.. anyone got any info on current ice thickness around Caesarea? I want to get out the weekend after new years, hopefully it works out, I’d rather play it safe with ice thickness

Anyone have any updates in the area? How did it hold up through this weather?

After reading this post, curious how good the crappie fishing is on this lake? Heading simcoe for a couple days but wouldn’t mind going after some crappie.

Just fished there today! Around 8 inches of SOLID black ice. Ended up with about 25 perch and an accidental bass. No crappie and only caught 1 before the thaw. Hoping to figure them out on that lake this winter!

Using a camera has helped me tremendously finding crappie on other lakes. Find gills and crappie should move through. If you don’t see any some lakes have a good basin bite, deeper water and suspended. Usually the fish in the weeds by the gills are higher in the water Column as well.
