Jan 7-10 Trip, Chalkleys Sandy Bay

Just spent 2 days fishing Keith & Mike took great care of use. Managed a fish dinner plus some to take home. 4 of probably caught 30+ walleye, no perch, 1 pike.

Our group just finished the annual trip there too, 5 guys 9th-12th. We did really well, fish fry 2 nights plus fillets home. Lot's of pike in the area, we kept 2 pike and released a few more with a lot of pike hits and lost tackle. You know there are some big pike in there when the hooks on your treble get straightened out or the split ring on your lure pulls apart I have never experienced hits like that before, wish I was using a rod instead of my jigging stick. Only 3 perch, quite a few walleye including 14 keepers and 2 over, a few herring and zero mud puppies. Thanks Jeff for the accomodations and yes Keith and Mike for taking us out and managing the huts they are the best. Already booked for next year.

It was a mixture of both. personally I usually get more on the set line but overall as a group probably 50/50. A buckshot spoon tipped wth a minnow head and a williams with a pearl dropper were the most productive. Pink seemed to be the colour of choice this year rather than the green. As usual the bite was extremely light, the first couple days they would just hold it for a while then let it go but they were a bit more aggressive day 3. Water depth was between 20 and 23 feet.
