Maybe Taj should just charge more for minnows and not enforce trespassing on his property if people park illegally

Charging more for minnows is not the answer ...".Whynot".......He has to be competitive in business and if you are charging too much for minnows .....you loose business!

But if someone is trespassing his property illegally......his got 100% right to enforce the trespassing law.

If someone is trespassing your property illegally ...........would you close your eyes???

It’s a zoning issue. He needs to submit a minor variance application or zoning change. Hopefully just the minor variance and it is much cheaper to do. I’ll call Taj myself and see if he wants me to help him with that. Not a quick process and if the city is against him for any reason… it can start to add up quick.

There is only a couple of operator that come out of that access point. Without even asking I am sure most can guess who is giving him a hard time. But one thing I know is…. When people are jealous of you… then you are doing something right.

I think they would hate you regardless what colour you are. If you fully booked all the time and they can’t cover their gas most of the days…. It would be hard for them not to hate you! Lol 😝

I remember years ago I did park in his backyard for a reasonable fee. I did this if the ice was not strong enough to park on at the excess point. But I prefer to park on the ice very close to the shoreline.
The water is quite shallow there!

But it is a lot safer to park on his backyard . Maybe he should go for a permit if it's possible.

It’s because they are threatened by you. Your bringing the heat to the lake giving great services and positive attitude. The old boys club likes easy money and no competition they don’t want to have to work hard to satisfy there customers. It’s the same in my industry people complain about the lower priced menu food trucks with friendly service. You just gotta push on and do everything right and eventually you will make the complainers look like the boy who cried wolf and the law will stop coming.

I guess living to a multi culture country as Canada, that nothing still changes regarding skin color. Maybe as a suggestion seeing that your a taxpayer out in Port Bolster, that you should consider to contact your Municipality counsellor in ward, and tell them about your situation, and hopefully they can step in with the law enforcement’s, any Bylaw department to put a end to this matter.

And some other hut operator(s) in the area (Port Bolster) are harassing Taj? I might be 'nearsighted" as I am only aware of one other hut operator in that area, but I guess I won't name anyone in particular :-)

I don't fish with Taj as we have our own gear and are capable of fishing the lake without assistance. I have however always parked there, had great breakfasts and bought gear from the shop. Even though we weren't fishing with him he was quick to offer advice on any given day, even stopped by our crew on the lake to let us know a storm was heading our way. Just a class guy, I hate that this is happening to him.

IAM aware of that ...." Other ".....hut operator as well. Years ago I wanted to park on the ice close to the shoreline.......he told me quite strong language .......Do NOT park there......that is my Customers parking area!!!!
I didn't know any hut operators OWNING a part of the Lake!! I talk about the lake ....the ice.....and not the land. The land behind is private property .But the Lake is NOT private property!!

You drive to the lake at the access point ( that is public ) and you park on the ice.....( that is also public) property!

NO such a thing the hut operator is Owing the ice as it was his property!!

I would agree, the hut op doesn't own a specific area for parking on ice. I tell him to take a flying leap.

Pretty sure the operator in question use to meet his clients at Casey's.
I know we did a couple of times. I don't have anything positive to say about the experience with the operator, we found out all he cared about was drinking beer..
Taj has always been first class.

WOW,this is so very sad to read and to think this crap is still going on in this area. Years ago the same racist garbage was going on in the same area against our Asian fishers when they were harassed and assaulted and thrown from piers into Lake Simcoe. It took the OPP and charges and court cases to eventually stop the racist garbage going on in this area, also a very large public awareness of the hate crimes going on in the area stopped the local racist punks. It's so unfortunate that there are still local racists committing harassment to a local business in this area. I for one was hoping perhaps things had changed for this community but unfortunately I am mistaken, and there is still a red neck bunch of uneducated local racists being raised in this area. I only hope through public awareness and support that this will stop for Taj and his family, he runs top notch service and deserves to be left alone to keep running his excellent business.

Cant say ive ever fished with his outfit because I have all of my own gear etc, but Ive parked there for years and buy my bait etc there. Ive talked to him many times and hes a great guy. What a shame he has to deal with this.

If there is one operator on the whole lake to recommend, it is Taj’s. Everyone can learn a lot from this man. Humble, patient and great hospitality. I have stories that will blow every operator off the ice!!! Lol

My partner Jimmy and I will be up to see Taj on Tuesday....booked a hut for the day....looking forward to the hospitality and the perch.

I don't mean to nitpick or be pedantic------To call what Taj has been subjected to 'racism' is a useful shorthand, but most South Asians are of the same race as "Caucasians" i.e. Indo-European. (inasmuch that there is any reality to the term 'race' apart from the 'human race')
