Walked out today .. 3" and slushy.. and I saw sled marks out there,😶...
Thanks for the update!
Sleds/ATV needs about 6" CLEAR ice to be safe. I prefer even a little more.
There are a few really cold nights coming . It would be great if someone living in this area ( Willow Beach) ....could update about the ice condition by this coming weekend.

few years ago guys fishing the river, sleds were being idiots and zipping past them really close. They stopped after awhile up stream a bit to have a smoke. Was the wrong thing to do. Ice fishermen had to pull them out.

I feel safer on a moving sled than walking.
If you break through walking you are close to safe ice - the way you came in. On a sled you can travel a long way on extremely thin ice without even realizing it. When it finally breaks through, you can be very far from ice that will support you. Kinda a false sense of security.

Was fishing at the east end of the island on Feb 5. We drilled two holes three feet apart and one had 2 and the other had 6"of ice. On the way back to the dock we had to hug the shore line because of an ice crack that caused a flood from the island almost to the mainland. (Pretty scary) Things are not good our there and going to get worse with the upcoming warmer temperatures
