I explored a Lake O eastern tributary on the weekend with steelhead rod at the ready. Water was extremely low and clear. I did find a few pools with a couple of steelhead mulling around, but they were completely spooked and my drifts were ignored. Tried for a few hours at various pools and nothing for me, no bites, no hits, nothing. I will try again later in the week, hopefully this rain stirred things up a bit... It was finally good to get out and enjoy the fall colours and fresh air. Hopefully the fall chrome will cooperate next time.

I hear ya Jerry , I was out on the H, this week and few rainbows starting to move in . I didn't bring my fishing rod but I sure did see a few salmon in some of the pools as well. Next couple rainfalls and they should be in i think . Suppose to rain for the next three days. so they say.... Northern Rivers are a Green Light for fall chrome's

I went out again yesterday morning for a few hours.. Even after the rain, water is still too low and clear.. Nothing again.. I'll keep at it or make the drive north, it's time for a road trip.

I was out this morning at the East end . Water level very low still. Caught 3 Rainbows 1.5-3 pounds. Lost 4 good hits early Am. All bow's caught sun up .
Further up from the mouth fish are very spooky and not committing too anything.
Blurry Pic. My buddy fired the picture from across the river where he was drifting on the other side.

I hate the fact that work gets in the way of my fishing.Wish i could spend everyday out steelheading. The first time you land a steelhead you are hooked.Just love the feel of the cool air cold water against your waders and the anticipation of that float going down, its intoxicating and addictive just want to be on the river all the time.Wish the Boss could see it that way.Anyway this is just my rant because i cant get out tommorow i guess.

I know what you mean steelhunter. After a few hours of steelheading from the break of dawn till noon, cold, wet, sore back and tired to exhaustion.. I go home and relax --- but within a few hours - I am already missing it and wanting to go out again... Just crazy, but I love it.
