I was at Brechin today, big pressure crack about 100 yds out from shore.
Lots of huts and sleds out there tho.

Ice fishing outfitters in vb has all its huts on shore now.

Wow..... quite surprising!
Definitely didn't expected that from VB.

Hopefully all these operators are marking their holes.

The forecast for today Thursday is 35mm RAIN!!!

What this huge amount of rain will do to the ice we still have on the lake??

and with the warm temps are still coming after this?

END of the season that we didn't even have!!

Well we actually didnt cancel we are just going to send it and hope for the best.

We have 0 fishable ice down where I am esp for a bigger guy like me.

Fingers crossed!

It's been a brutal year for really good ice making weather and I feel for the operators that couldn't even get it going this year

hopefully certain sections of the lake will have the ice hold up.......It's the shoreline access that concerns me

The 15 and 16 are 2 days of rain all week temps are in the plus i think the season is gone except for the darwin awards hope its an early water season now you can spend the next few weeks getting spring gear ready. Should be great for fish next year with the low pressure the lake has seen this winter

Or we can look on the bright side and hope this weekend heals it up some. Next week will takes another little punch and following weekend can start making ice again for a few weeks lol.

March is coming though and a few inches of ice won't last that long lol. 🙃

Just think of all the fish we are saving for next year haha.

Since we got these types of temps in Feb. I'm praying we get -20C in April and May so we can all get out there.

Pick up some 2"x10"x16' and you'll be fine.

Use them to get onto the ice from shore, and then once you're on the ice.... you can strap them to your a## incase you go through. Safety first!

Agree!

Just think about the thousands of whitefish are saved for next year and for the soft water season!

Let's hope we will find them at the opener on the second Saturday in May!!
