A beautiful sunny day in Beaverton area yesterday, got to plus 4 in afternoon, great to be out there.
Went along with a buddy who booked a hut with an operator, lots of operator huts in the area.
Looked like 10-11" ice under the hut, some slush and water on ice.
Lots of atvs, sleds pulling gear around, looked like a wet adventure. One person was having a good workout by cross-country skiiing out with gear.
Noticed a couple huts being pulled off later in afternoon.
Someone did land an ultralight plane on the ice in the afternoon about 200 m away, went to a hut for afternoon bite I presume, we left before plane did, but was wondering how the take off woud go?
Enough preamble, here's the fishing report:
Fished 8 am -4 pm, 28' of water, crystal clear, could see bottom and fish activity.
Caught about 25 perch between 2 of us, 4 were 10-11" and kept for fish fry. Others huts did about the same.
Most caught on small tungsten jigs tipped with a minnow, but hard to tell what was really working as seemed to be just random fish passing by, the odd group of 3 or 4.
My first time out this year, hope to be heading further north for next ice fishing adventure.
