So I was fishing yesterday morning for perch and everything was going great. I have my so called 4 man Fabril Quick Fish pop up which is perfect for two people lol. Winds were not bad with the odd gust coming by. Then at around noon a wind gust lifted one corner and loosened up my snow pack on my flaps. I had four ice anchors one on each side and after that gust I put two more anchors in the corners the wind was blowing on. I continued to fish and then out of no where wack my Hut blew straight up and started blowing towards shore lol. I had my rod in one hand and my coffee in the other nice and warm and then I am sitting there in a blizzard wind storm. I packed up all my gear took out all 6 anchors and started walking in the direction it went . Lucking for me the snow on the ice was my savior. I followed the drag marks all the way to shore and got my Hut back. It was on someone lawn lol. No major damage. Seems like all my time down strings snapped.

Any suggestions on anchoring techniques that may help .

Pick less windy days.

I use a set of 4 of this (It is called "Digger ICE Angel"). The harder the wind is pulling the anchor, the more secure the anchor stays/stucks in the ice! So the stronger the winder the better?:-)

Another one. Tied down with cam strap and metal chain. Would it break by whatever strong or brutal wind? No chance whatsoever. Yes, you may call me a bit overkill on this, but no, I don't want my hut to fly as a kite and become a freebie for someone to collect on some other side of the lake (which happened to me once about 10 years ago before I switched to this "Digger Ice Angel" anchor!:-)

Those ice angels look great. I remember when they first came out I was intrigued to purchase them but never did...it still might be worth the investment. Back in the day we would use a 2x4 about 12" long and tie some rope to the middle. Push it through an augered hole and turn it so it lays flat on the bottom of the ice and tie the other end of the rope to the hut. Repeat on all 4 corners. This was on a permanent hut when all the snow was gone. Tricky to do when the ice was 3 ft thick...ahhh the good ol days!

Thanks James I think for starters I need to get some cam straps other than the cords that came with the hut.

Sounds like you just need better straps.
All those extra holes around the hut could be a ankle breaker for yourself or someone else. Now if they are marked when one leaves the Ice, they shouldn't be a problem..

I personally wouldn’t go out in high winds. The damage to your tent out weighs the fishing.

get some parachute cord or other high quality rope.(Those 'batman' anchors look impressive but I don't think his anchors were the OP's prob)

I use cam straps never had an issue , although when it starts getting into the 55-60km hr gusts I just stay home , just not fun when it gets that windy for set up take down etc.

The advantage with cam strap is you can tighten it up as much as you want. No rope or cord is anywhere close in this respect, I say:-)
