I’ll keep it short and sweet…. Finished up work an hour early to prep for a hot date… but not with my wife. The weather was unreal! +7 and sunny, I couldn’t resist the call of the lake. Started the long walk out at 3pm on a lake I haven’t fished in a while, laker slot and one line limit. Found a spot and drilled a hole, checked the graph… she’s waiting for me down there with a bunch of action. Drop my meegz down to bottom, stir up some ruckus down below, she follows right away, start reeling to entice the chase, maybe 5 cranks up and like a rocket, slam! Fish on! Great head shakes on this one, had my drag a little tight but the rod absorbed most of the thumping. Just like the other day, this fish jumps out of the hole like a bass onto the ice! No fussing. Toss her on the board and call it a keeper 23”… she even burped up my panfish entry upon landing. lol. Kept fishing, 15 min later another laker 22”, released. Called it a day and off the ice by 4:30. Just an afternoon quickie. Nobody out there at all. Great walking conditions though I did manage to find a slush hole, which happened to be where I fished. Headed home, stopped at the store and bought my wife a dozen red roses for Valentine’s Day for the first time ever in our 14 years together…. I felt obligated after my secret laker date. Trout tacos for dinner!

Well done on all aspects, lake to plate, and especially the roses! Do you just pound bottom with the meegs or whitie dance it? Tipped with a portion of minnow or small tube. Im interested in trying your technique on Joe this weekend as I have had some success with a moonshine jig with similar profile as meegs but with "glider?" Tail similiar to jiiging rap. I've never tried the meegs there as most of my catches come on a deadstick with a river rig with 5/8 oz egg sinker. Not sure why but this seems to work there.
