Well Haliburton treated us well on Family day weekend. I got to play amazing uncle and dad to my son, daughter, and 6 nephews. My nephews live for the one week end a year when uncle Karl brings out the snowmobiles, and ice fishing gear. It was fun to have the hut as a revolving door as they came and went for two days in a row. Some time spent fishing and then playing on the snowmobiles all over the lake. If I had to guess 70-80 perch a day. Plenty of entertainment!

Now the crazy part. Never in my wildest of dreams did I think a blue perch would come out of a lake in Haliburton. Special moment for my nephew. A picture he will have for the rest of his life. I didn’t even realize it when I took a picture. We were more concerned about getting bait down ASAP as the graph was still lit up. It wasn’t until later while comparing photos to the others that we caught that we realized what it actually was. Boy was my nephew pumped when I explained what he had actually caught.

That’s also a good sized one for the area. I’ve caught a couple blue like that in smaller lakes but they were only 3” dinks. Smiles all around. Good job!

Very cool blue perch, my better half said it looks much prettier than a yellow perch.
