I think with the recent cold temps and increased ice opportunities, many such as myself have moved onto WF waters until the 15th.
Kinda quiet at our favorite operator when I stopped in for minnows Sat morning.

If you're walking bring a defibrillator.

Was out at PB yesterday, had about 11” at 28 fow. Lots of 8-9 inches with occasional jumbos.

Nasty walk out with random snowdrifts

Thanks for the replies. Exactly as posted. Fishing was slow. Watched tons of fish come through with very little commitments. Would have been even more aggravating without the camera. They were under me pretty much all day

Thanks SS....I think I will skip a week at Simcoe...probably have to do some snow removal the next two days anyway.

i was out Sunday and talked to a few guys on the ice who said the perch fishing was slow, i was on white grounds and landed 4 total in about 3 hrs but the whites they very sketchy and not aggressive at all so detecting the slack bite was the only way to get them for me.

We were skunked at PB Sunday, travelled out from the ramp to the eastern group of huts and only had 3 small ones up the hole all day

Sounded like it was slow for everyone

Lots there if you can entice the bite.

I picked up a nice scoop of minnows from Casey's on the weekend and I went out from Port Bolster on the weekend. There is a lot of snow on the lake so walking long distance can be a challenge! No problem going out with machine. There is a small pressure crack closer to shore but it is easy to cross over. I drove out far into deeper water 30Ft area. The Perch was biting VERY LIGHT........they were not aggressive at all. Because I was fishing in a warm portable hut (......so the water in the hole was always open... ) I had one rod set up with my own special design of .." Slip float" set up with live minnows from Taj.... I set up so the bait is about 1 feet above the bottom. This set up so sensitive the slip float showing me the slightest movements when the fish is very finicky and just slowly takes the bait. At the slightest movements of my slip float I set the hook and EVERTIME I got the perch. I managed to get a few dozen fish this way but many small ones I throw back.

I managed to get about a dozen good size ....keepers over 10 inches......but in one word the bite was SLOW. That is the reason I switched to my supersensitive ..: slip float" set up.

If perch is aggressive .....they will hit anything.......There was one time They hit an empty hook , believe it or not....LOL.. ........it is true.

I was in that area but away from the group of huts. Sometimes we have to move a couple of times to find a school of fish. Perch can be slow at the beginning ......but as they go crazy and going into feeding frenzy .......they will attract more perch from the area.

Then you got your lucky day!

I fished Port Bolster Friday, caught dozen under 10" early in the morning, and had a school of cisco come through and bust the chops for an hour. Shut right down by mid-day lockjaw, with the exception of a few dinks on a dead stick and minnow, that's as good as it got the rest of the afternoon. Fished 22, 27,35 FOW but just couldn't get on them. On the way in I bumped into a couple of guys that worked their asses off and put a dozen jumbos top side. I was going to head out tmrw morning, but after reading this thread I think I'll hold off and try a different location. If anyone's been out there the last couple of days with some success a pm would be appreciated. Cheers and Thanks in advance.
