Thinking about snowmobile trip to Simcoe far grounds and would like to know if that Woodland Drive access is passable for snowmobiles and ATV? I've not been there this winter yet and would be appreciate very much for any info. I heard there were huge pieces of broken ice in January. Also, what is the ice thickness on the middle of Simcoe? I am not asking for any exact measurements, just what anybody found over there... Thanks ahead!

Don't know the ice condition in that area since I haven't been there in two years (last time in Feb 2021 I think). If you meant shoreline access at Wooland Drive near Moon Point Dr, I am also interested in knowing the ice condition there. Also I used to park on ice near shore, or park along Moon Point Dr. I heard there are no more parking allowed in that area, and even parking on ice is prohibited (don't know if this is really true), hence the reason I haven't been there in two winters!:-)

Unfortunately the parking around the Lake is getting more and more difficult. I found changes in many areas and I found parking restrictions changed even from last year!! Now I can see signs showing fine of $100 to $150 for parking violations!!!!
That was not there last year!!!
I guess NIMB movements are spreading fast ........all the Municipalities are doing this!!

Yep I had a spot on the east side that brought in new no parking for this season. Sucks made a longer walk and parked in a 3 hour parking spot on a different street lol.

I don’t know any thickness or safety. I have a question how any town ship can prohibit parking on the ice? The lake is provincially owned. The town could block access but can’t prohibit parking on the ice by any law I am aware of.

The lake is Provincially owned.!!! There is NO part of the Lake belongs to any Municipality at all. However what they can do is .........have restriction to the access to the lake....and parking around the lake!
But they can not block any public access . If you can go to the Lake from a Marina that is private property........Municipalities can not do anything and have no control over that.

I don't think parking on the ice at that access is an option for me this winter because of mild temperatures, I'm asking about the access condition right at the shore, whether it's possible get on the ice on snowmobile or ATV.
