Did not see any marks at 30 to 45 then a couple of gentlemen was coming back and told us that they had many marks at 52, but no bites. Marks are better than nothing and we moved deeper.
There were marks, but tiny and not willing even to bite the smallest tungsten jig head. Then from nowhere a nice perch showed up and about 20min later I had something light which as we expected was a smelt.
Then nothing for a long time. I went out to check deeper all the way to 60, but nothing.

Came back and same nothing for my son. We tried a bit more and wanted to move to 15-20 to try for perch. When my son took almost everything out and unscrew the hut i was about to remove the lines, but noticed a thick yellow mark almost separated from the bottom and few seconds later it hit my smallest jig on the 4lb line.
Somehow I landed it. A 60 cm whitefish.
Checked my notes and the biggest whitefish I caught accidentally in 2014 was my first ever.
It was 56cm long.

Then some time later the screen went crazy for 3-4min, but not a nibble. Only when marks almost disappear we caught another average perch.

Another PB catch for you. You sure have had many PB catches this year. That's from all the work you put in. Very Nice fish RM thanks for the report. Good luck out there. Stay safe.

Sounds like so many days that I have had in the past....the fish show up when you are not so focused on the screen and hoping to see the bottom change

Thanks.

I do let myself from time to time to drink beer when i do not catch anything

While probably no need for a can when there is a measuring tape, but I put cans to get a better perception of the size.

A half of my PBs happened while fishing with you.

Thank you for your mentoring.

If we happen to fish again from shore I may ask for a permission to put some water from your pail to mine

That is very nice of you to say, thank you and you are very welcome. I was lucky to have great guidance through my years of fishing. Now passing on that knowledge is just as satisfying as learning it. I always seem to get out fished when passing on fishing hints, tips, recommendations etc etc. LOL. See you when the ice is gone. We can fish from the boat as well, many more options that way. Stay safe all.
