Gramps place had plenty of minnows they are right on 11 before the access road . i would call them first before you head up or there is also a sstore at martin river that usually has bait.

Conditions were excellent in last couple days. Just a bit of snow on top didn’t find any slush.

But the trout fishing was terrible. Not one bite. Marked few fish. It’ll take some inside info before I ever get convinced to go back there again.

You have to be willing to spend time on that lake and move around until you find active fish. It is not a lake where you can set up and let them come to you.

The lake is a tough winter fish. The ice conditions for travel may be good but I've found some dangerous places where I didn't anticipate any issues and the deepwater 200+ foot areas freeze up really late.

We once travelled to a spot to fish to find out the whole area had 6" of black/blue ice max and 8" of white slush ice. It likely was worse where we travelled across the large expanse to where we drilled holes and that was the 8th or 10th of March a few yrs ago. Conditions changed that day as the slush was way worse coming back than in the am. Likely an unseen pressure crack.
