so, doing some prep work on my smaller aluminum boat, I made a big booboo and fried my bowmount

I'm getting a new one and it's not going to be hi end

I just want some with either spotlock or anchor mode and 55 thrust is plenty

I've looked on line and prices and reviews are all over the map

do any of you have recommendations

again, must have spot lock or anchor mode / around 55 lb thrust and remote control

At a quick look with spot lock and remote, which means you will have I-pilot or co-pilot.....you will be mid end Werner. Looking at between 1800 and 2500.

High end is a Ulterra with all the toys at 4,500.

PS....Don't wait too long....there is stock in right now but if you have to order it....mine took 51 weeks.

Here are a couple of model numbers for you to look at and there are probably more......put them in google and search somebody that has one in stock.

I bought mine year before last year for 1800 ish with spot lock and remote and mounting plate. Minn Kota powerdrive 55lb thrust 48” shaft, works like a dream and my 14’ prince craft is decked out with a casting deck, it’s not the lightest boat in terms of aluminum boat, and I feel the 55 is way more than enough. It’s held me in place in 50k wind no problem and zips around pretty quick too. If you forget your remote you can use Bluetooth on your phone to drive it and anchor it as well. First trip out with it it locked me right on top of the whitefish and fish on first drop, can’t ask for more.

Edit: stock was brutal when I was looking to get one so I had to drive to a marina 2 hours away and just happened they had ordered the wrong one for a customer and I got lucky.

Post the model number for Werner if it is different from the two I posted, Mykola.

I should mention that this is for Erie fishing 99 % of the time to sit on perch, bass or walleye

If you do not plan to hook motorguide to Lowrance Id stay away. Even then, no display on the remote is a major pita.

I may be wrong, mine may be the longer shaft, but 55lb thrust. I can check the model when I’m back at work Monday.

when you do the measurements to find the shaft length you need if it close, I'd go to the next length. I did the math and put the 48" shaft on my jon boat, it would have been fine in calm water, but not in any waves. I got luck I guess you could say and my ulterra that I put on had a problem and had to be replaced, I then ordered the ulterra but the next length up.

yes, I'm seeing it better to be long than short lol

you don"t want it bouncing out of the water in a choppy situation

Yes, for sure go with the longer shaft on a bigger water body like Erie
Something like Terrova I pilot 24 V with 60” shaft should work .
It has all the features you re looking like spot lock etc.

100% got with the 55” shaft. No question. When spot locked you will get lots of bow lift on waves and chopping air sucks. I know because my trolling motor shaft is to short.

Never ever buy a Motor Guide IMO. They are junk. I owned one and it almost burnt my boat down with a short. I have had several friends with them and they all crapped out within a few years. I also sold both MinnKota and MotorGuide and saw more returns on MotorGuide than any other trolling motor

Personally for big water I would also got with the 24 volt system. More thrust and more run time. The less you drain your batteries the longer life they have. The 24 volt system with two batteries you won’t drain them down as far as a 12 volt single battery system.

i have ruled out motorguide for this next purchase

although I used to have a 24 mototguide for the Niagara River for years with zero issues, but that was quite a few years ago. In fact i still have it and runs well, but has no spotlock

LS, I might add that getting a RAM mount with a claw end and about and 8" extension on it so you can hold the motor shaft stable when trailering or in really rough water. I put one on mine boat as when i was trailering it I noticed that the head of the ulterra was really bouncing around and was afraid it my cause problems. Just a thought.
