Hi all! Hope all is going well. And wow does time fly. I can't get over the fact that it is already April. Hard to believe this may be our last weekend of ice fishing.
But, with this time comes somthing I really enjoy. Spring fishing! As you all may have know i was living in northwestern on for the past year. I had a great boat up there and was able to get out fishing any time! Now that I have come back down to southern on though. I don't have that same boat/motor combo. That has me on the hunt for a new one!
I don't have a hitch on my car. So I am on the market for a car topper and smaller motor. Like I had in those previous videos. The reason I am posting here is because I am not sure where to start looking!
If anyone could send me in the right direction or has anything that is on the market. I would love to hear from you.

Have you considered different alternatives
1 Canoe or kayak, maybe with trolling motor
2 'fold-a-boat' or similar. They are fairly expensive new but you might be able to find a good used one. I fished with a guy who had one a few years ago and it was extremely handy. Good for accessing some fairly remote lakes and a bit easier to lift than a normal cartop 'tinny'

I went to kijiji to find my setup. Couple years ago found a 12 ft tinny for 150 bucks and a 9.9 merc that's was a couple years old and couldn't have been used more than a dozen times for 1700 bucks. Whole setup easily sits in the bed of my truck. It's also very convenient, you no longer need a launch and can just throw it in anywhere there is public access. If you keep your eyes open on any of those online sellers sites, you should see a deal pop up eventually. I would suggest not going under 9.9. You won't really plane with less hp. You wont be too happy once your on a larger lake and your just pushing water. Once I'm planing, I can get to just over 30 km/hr. Puts a little smile on my face talking to guys at the launch that had caught just as many or less fish than I did, but paid 30k more to do so.

If you are usually fishing by yourself, a 12' sportspal flat back canoe my be the answer here. I have a 14' I use with a 2.5hp motor and it is quite stable and moves along well. Sportspal canoes are made of aluminum and are extremely lightweight. A 12' weighs around 40 lbs and can be easily lifted on/off the roof of a car. They make special kits (pieces of foam) to mount on the roof of a car.
