Walleye jigging reel

hi guys - I am moving off my pflueger spinning reels, keep letting me down - I use fenwick elite rods for walleye - anyone have any suggestions for a good jigging reel? budget 150-200?

I am currently using Piscifun Carbon X reels for walleye jigging for about 2 years now .
It’s pretty good reel , very light , reliable and has a smooth drag
It goes for 75-95 Cad depending on where you buy it .
PS. Tom Boley is using it and overall it’s been popular in Wisconsin among pro staffers and various bloggers .

I was up early today getting my gear ready for spring crappie fishing and walleye fishing in May. Saw your post just now and was wondering....what is it about the pflueger reels that is letting you down? I have 4 presidents with power pro superslick 10lbs braided line. Maybe I could be of some assistance with something. Lures, jigging, trolling, bobber fishing..... from a boat or off the dock. My set ups don't change too much. Glad to help in any way, if I can.

For that price range you can get into a nice Shimano Nasci or Miravell. You can never go wrong with Shimano IMO.

hey Crapeeeman - thanks for replying, I have 4 President XTs (and a couple baitcasters too) - the spinning reels drag has gone on a couple of them, plus the bail has jammed a couple times too - I think I am too hard on them If I am honest, I do clean and maintain them but have not had great luck with them. I do love how smooth they are but was going to try something diff like a shimano or okuma.

I only use Shimano as they stand behind their products. I took a 25 year old reel in for service. They didn't have parts for it, so they replaced the entire guts for the price of a service visit, $25!

Works like it's new.

Okuma helios is a pretty solid reel, you can get discounted pretty often, the shimano vanford is also a good reel but don't think its as good as the Daiwa ballistic.

Hey Fisherman7, where did you bring the Shimano for service? I have a Sahara or Sedona, can't remember which with a broken bail arm assembly. Found a few on Ebay but shipping to Canada is ridiculous, all US sellers. If I can get the part locally, that would be great. Thanks!

I have both Presidents and Shimanos, find both are good reels. The shimanos seem a bit lighter for long days of casting.

Yup, it is possible to wear out a reel. Hope you find a good new one, or two, or three, or four ect. LOL.

I use a quantum with a 4' 8" ultra light. I used to use a 6' med but I find I catch more fish with the shorter rod.

Hey Jerry, try contacting Shimano in Peterborough. I believe you can send them there for repair.

If you are using braid .....have you tried respooling as sometimes the braid digs into the spool and that reacts like it is the drag at fault.....just a thought.
