Balsam Lake - Anyone know the ice status - OFF?, North End

Anyone know if Balsam is still ice locked. Looking to launch the Kayak from the north end of the lake. Looking for some Pike.

The main lake and arms are still frozen according to satellite image. It looks like the river in Coby ls ice free but you cannot fish in the river due to sanctuary .
Give it another week or so.

Yesterday it was open along our shore but only about 15 feet out from shore. I am in north bay about 1/2km from the park.

Mosus, do you fish for pike at the end of the bay? How is it?

I have lived there for 6 years. I only fish occasionally. I need to try to get out more often. I have only caught 3 pike through the ice while looking for perch and crappy.
