I was thinking of buying a summer pass for sibbalb and wanted to know what the fishing was like there? I was told it’s pretty much bass only? Looking to do some perch and white fish ? Thanks Kevin G

It's much easier to catch perch over there than bass all summer

Might wanna reconsider your idea....

I just got boat last year and never fished there in summer. I never thought about the line ups. The reason I was thinking there is my son likes fishing for perch and everywhere else I can find wants $50 a day….

We bought the season pass for the same cost reasons. As we ice fish as well it made sense. There may be busy days but you just have to get there early and beat the crowds. With the price gouging it makes sense to get the pass. There's a marina we used to use that's not far from there called Quinn's that was reasonable as well if you want to look into something different. I found they stood up for the fishermen during the Covid shutdowns... at least for as long as they could. They're probably less likely to gouge the way a lot of townships have done.

Honestly, most of our fishing is done in the winter and we use the boat launch at Sibbalds in the early spring to chase perch during their spawn. The perch fishing can be fantastic if you hit them at the right time. I've heard the whitefish in the spring can be a lot of fun too. After that, we fish closer to home but still use the Provincial Parking Pass to launch the boat in other places like Long Point.

Oh, and with the season's pass you can plan your trip in advance and book your park visit up to 5 days beforehand. You don't have to make sure you're super early to beat the rush. I just got the email from Ontario Parks saying this...

"As a seasonal vehicle permit holder, you will be able to use this advance daily vehicle permit service to guarantee access at select provincial parks at no additional charge. We recommend you always secure your spot by obtaining a daily vehicle permit in advance of every visit using this service.

To obtain a daily vehicle permit in advance; please visit reservations.ontarioparks.com beginning at 7 a.m., five days in advance of your intended arrival date. You will need to provide your seasonal vehicle permit serial number when obtaining your permit.

When you arrive at the park to enjoy your visit, please make sure you display your seasonal permit and bring a printed or electronic copy of the confirmation e-mail that indicates you have secured a daily vehicle permit at the park on the day of your visit."
