First fish of the year from my tinny, and what a morning it was. Pulled up to one of my known crappie hideouts, first cast w/ slip bobber n jig rig, and it’s bobber down! One after another for the next 2 hrs. Most all females, so catch n release was the rule of the day. Biggest was 13.5 and what a beauty she was. Returning to same lake this morning to try a few different areas and techniques. Tight lines and be safe! 🙂

Wow that's an awesome crappie day. I remember commenting on your great crappie day last spring. Good to see you out early in this summer weather. I hope you have the same luck today. Did you take a picture of the monster 13.5 and did you happen to get a weight on it? I am just curious because all the crappie caught in my posts from the last three days were much fatter then the last 5 or 6 years. I read through your old posts last year, I do this from time to time on certain members that have similar interests. After reading old stories by members, when they post a new story it's like a new chapter in a book. Before joining the fishing forum, forcing my self to read was the usual. Now I look forward to reading the short stories here on the forum. Thanks for always protecting the fishery. Good luck. Stay safe.

Thank you gentlemen for the nice words! Yesterday was just as good, and I found a couple new spots! I’m loving this retirement gig! Big bull gills are my next target,on the fly rod. Tug is the drug!!!

Cold morning, -4, but the bite is still hot. Caught a few big females that were spawned out, which is a good sign. Lots of smaller/ darker males guarding the nests. Released all to fight again, sure had fun for a couple hours…….
