My friend just text this message. This is how it read on my phone. "Caught a few small crappie and 1 9 inches." I thought he meant a 19 inch crappie. I was exhilarated and dejected at the same time. I texted him back....."You caught a 19 inch crappie!!!!!" No response from his phone. Holy smoke, a 19 inch crappie! This would mean that he had bested my 17.5 inch crappie and also set a new Canadian record. I was happy for him and sad for me LOL. Still no text back so I called him. I said.... "You just caught a 19 inch crappie!" He said yes. I said. "A 19 inch crappie, that's incredible." He said. "No, not a 19 inch crappie. One crappie that was 9 inches. LOL. The moral of the story is. Don't read your text messages when you are tired from working all night. LOL. Just to be clear. There are 19 inch crappie out there. Someday I will get one. Or DBfish (Dale) will beat me to it.

Cool story CM.
That crappie at 19" would have been not only Canadian but a US record, I think (they track the record crappies by weight though)

My biggest black crappie was 17.5 inches long and 2.6 pounds. It was caught on Balsam Sept. 25 2014 at night as usual. The Canadian record is 17 inches and 3.78 pounds. The American record is 5.7 pounds and it was 19.25 inches.

I know a person who caught a 3.1 lb crappie in Ontario in winter a few years ago (don't know the length of it)
My PB crappie weighted at 2.5 lb (1.1 kg) caught end of March when ice fishing (I did not measure it)

WOW! those are some big fish. I have often wondered how much my crappie would have weighed, if I had caught it in November. By then it would have fattened up for winter.

Whoever wins, I just hope it's a long tough series. High scoring games, with some amazing saves so the score does not get too high. Maybe even a couple of good fights as well. Old time exciting Leafs, Bruins, hockey. I don't think that's too much to ask for. Go Bruins, but most of all.....GO LEAFS GO.
