GOOD! but IMO still the sentence is not enough! Should be banned from fishing for life and 10 days is nothing, let them rot for a few years in prison. The fines were ridiculous $2500.

Apparently the law doesn't allow for longer prison term.

I get it - we're all p#####. But a few years for that I think is way overboard.
Remember, this charge has most likely affected their career choices. It has made them spend tens of thousands on lawyers, consumed their time, and projected to the world that idiots they were.
If they are normal working family men, I think that's enough shame and damage for them never to do it again, and sent a clear message to anyone else who would think about frauding an honourable contest.

how do you know they did not win that boat
imo, they should be banned from any tournament fishing for life,,,,,set a strong example
repeat offenders are just that....repetitive
They should be - CNN covered it tonight. I'm certain their names and faces are known throughout both Canada and US now. Nobody is going to let them in their tournies.

Exactly. BIGGER FINES...BIGGER SUSPENSIONS...Anyone who breaks the regulations or cheats or whatever...DON'T let them fish anymore. And of course take their boats and all their gear.

Given that it was only this one tournament they were convicted of defrauding (even if we're sure they've done it before), I'm not surprised by the decision handed down by the judge. The prize they tried to cheat everyone out of was $28 thousand and they lost well over 100k in fines and property. Whether the property seized was won or not is irrelevant to the courts. The jail time is a bit of a joke (I've had longer vacations!) but it will give them a record that will follow them everywhere.
Emotionally? Ban them from anything animal related and string them up by their wedding tackle! Realistically? They're white men in sport, in America. I'm surprised they got time.
