Happy open water season folks. I need my bunks replaced due to rot. Any recommendations on where to go in Durham region? Tks.
I did them myself a few years ago on my trailer. Bought cedar 2X4s , marine grade carpet roll and used a heavy duty staple gun. It took us less than an hour with a buddy to install them on a boat launch .
I think Bass Pro may do this job but not 100% sure .

I did mine myself in my garage a few years ago.
Used pressure treated 2x4 and outdoor carpet.
Was able to use a jack to raise the boat off the trailer and remove the bunks.
I cut the carpet so that it covered the top and sides of the bunks but not the bottom. Fastened it on with galavanized roofing nails. Leaving the bottom unwrapped allows the wood to dry between launchings.
If you wrap the full bunk in carpet, they never dry out and that is why they rot.

Marine shop won't do trailer bunks? Unbelievable, as a career marine tech, I can't believe the dwindling number of actual licenced mechanics. The term 'factory trained technicians' in their advertising means narrow-minded juniors learned to read a computer and spout sales crap. Re and re work can be taught to monkeys, find a marina that has employees who went to actual college and apprenticeship programs. Wanna sell me a $100,000 dollar piece of plastic crap, you better be able to repair anything from trailer bearings to gearcases.

100% agree. Out of the 7 contacted, only 1 said that they could do it but at a cost of $750 and couldn't commit to a date. Told me to call back in a month. The place I've used for everything since I've bought my boat 10 years ago lost their technician and is now selling place to a condo builder. It's been hell ever since trying to find a new dependable place. I'm just in Pickering and have no problem driving 100 km if I can only find someone dependable that can do everything in timely manner. It really takes the fun out of boating when you have no clue where to take your boat for servicing when needed. Kinda like not having a family doctor. 😀

The few times I have needed to have my motor worked on, I have found Blue Beacon Marine in Atherley(Orillia) to be dependable.

I bought a set of these for my trailer. My carpet (installed 2 years ago) are showing signs of wear and almost worn down to the wood where the boat rubs on the carpet when loading. So I decided to give these a try. I had them mailed to my daughter's house (free shipping in the US). If you have an address close by where you can ship them, the shipping I believe is still free down there. They look really good, coated with something similar to spray-in bedliner material then sanded down so they are very smooth. Should be a breeze to install. I didn't do it down there because the bolts on my current bunks are really rusted and have to be cut off (didn't feel like spending the money on a grinder when I have one here, so I am bringing them back in the bed of my truck. And they are custom cut to match your measurements.
