Was invited to go out on a friends boat on Monday to the Kawarthas, not very familiar with the area and not sure what’s best this time of year there.

Can someone recommend a good lake/boat launch? We’re thinking sturgeon or balsam but can be convinced otherwise.

Looking forward to the fishing, not so much the traffic with the long weekend LOL

The boat launch in Rosedale on Hwy. 35 shouldn't be that busy on Monday. BUT you never know. Balsam is a very good lake to fish. Get a chart if you are going on a new lake that you have never been on. "ROCKS." And check the regulations for Balsam, there are patrols on that lake. Hope you have fun where ever you go. Stay safe.

Thanks for the tip Crappeeeman, it was a great boat launch and not as busy as I was expecting!

We had a successful day and put a lot of pike in the boat. The fish were VERY active mid-day and would follow our lures right to the boat and hang around chasing our figure eights. Big flashy spoons worked the best. The bite died off in the afternoon and we couldn't figure out what changed.

My highlight was a few topwater pike blowups on buzz baits, my absolute fave

Tight lines!

Thanks for the update. I'm going to head up on Thursday and see if I can get some slime on the boat from the other side of the lake.
