Does anyone use Garmin Panoptix (PS30/31) or the newer Livescope LVS32/34 for Lake Trout jigging on Simcoe?
I've been watching the Salmon guys use it for watching their trolling spread and it looks awesome.
In my opinion, Lake trout are a bit different when you jig for them - I've really never wanted much more than my 2D sonar setup perfectly. I can get almost all the information I need to get a hook-up using my 2D typical sonar setup. But it would certainly be interesting to see it using 2D Panoptix or 3D livescope.
Just wondering if anyone is using it.. how does it look in Simoe 100+ ft down?

A friend of mine has been using Panoptics for lakers for years. He is one of the best and most successful Laker fishermen I know. He said it was a game changer especially in spring on suspended lakers.

these two were caught using panoptix ps 30 not jigging but downrigging you can watch fish attack your lures moving up or down , from the front or from behind. very cool.

Update:
Got my panoptix all installed, and it didn't work so well for jigging lakers. It's hard to see the jig down there when moving quickly. 2D hummingbird still rules for lakers..

Wow, nice fish! … live scope out of my price range I think. Unless I was with someone using it and witnessed some amazingness. I used to think the $400 was crazy for a vexilar and now if mine broke I’d easily pay $900 to replace it.

But down on Lake O for Salmon, well, it's amazing
Cassie got this big boy today
What transducer did you get? I saw the PS30 is highly recommended for jogging lakers and picking up your baits up to 130’ down. I have watch a few great YouTube review with live action picking up baits in deep water jigging. I believe Jay Siemens did one specifically on this newer transducer as I think also Clayton Shick did. Double check the model of transducer from their videos but I think it’s the correct one.

It's a PS30, Disco; It's in the flipped orientation.
I tried everything to dial in the settings. It could be that maybe my PS30 is rolled a few degrees and not picking up directly below the boat as well as it should when its 100+ feet.
For Salmon, though, I can easily see my flasher and fly 120 down.
That said, the 2D Humminbird settings I have dialed are amazing for Lakers. I'd be impressed if something could beat that.

I agree with the 2D statement. They all work great as 2D is simple and effective. 👍🏻. I do hope you get your Garmin working for those lakers though. A ton of money invested for it not to work.

We used the Panoptix yesterday jigging for Lakers in 60FOW out in Georgian Bay. What a piece of equipment. Watching the fish storm in to grab the lures. Four of us in the boat landed at least 30 Lakers and missed just as many.

I didn't buy the Panoptix for lakers - it's for competitive salmon fishing on Lake O, and it works fantastic there.
2D hummingbird works perfectly for lakers and is much cheaper
60 feet would work for lakers and PS30. I don't think the PS30 would work for lakers below 60FOW honestly. The jig is too small and the PS30 is not powerful enough. Maybe a different transducer would be good for jigging lakers.
I can see my downrigger ball at 150 and my flasher barely shows up at 150.. it's so faint.
