been way too long to just go to a local spot and sit in a chair, take in some scenery and hook into a few good carp
was not disappointed even though the water was quite high, the carp wee rolling on the shores and seen a few bonus creatures as well, several good size gar, a few turtles and a massive snapping turtle along with many varities of birds I could not id.
was very peacefull and really enjoyed the 3 hours I spent there
got a few carp around 7-10 ponds and then 1 big one

Nice carp. it looks really big on that picture with the rod Lots of people fish for carp and they do put a hell of a fight I was catching them incidentally in Lake Ontario harbours when fishing for pike and they are pulling line like a freight train.

As a kid growing up in Newmarket, I often fished for carp downtown when I was 7-8 years old. I’d ride my bike down there, use a single hook and mold some white wonder bread around it into a grape sized ball. Using just the weight of the bread I’d cast it out and leave the line slack and bail open, and rest the line on a reed or tall blade of grass. Lots of carp were caught. Some mirror carp too, really neat. It was a lot of fun, the passers by couldn’t believe these little kids reeling in all these massive fish… good times. I was taught by an old Englishman who lived across the road and would only visit from England n the summer.

Awesome catch Werner
I too used to fish for carp as I grew up and still live in the city. Fantastic fighters and could also get into catfish and large chubs using the same baits. I used to make a dough out of cornmeal or just buy a can of cooked corn at the grocery store and I was ready to fish.
It can be very relaxing and exciting when that line does finally move.
As for the trash, sadly this is now common at nearly all shore access spots. Don't know why people can litter in such a way in our outdoor spaces. But they do.

Havnt gone shore fish carp fishing in a while. Used to love it. The fight they put on is just a pure blast. Was kinda forced to stop when I took my kids to my childhood spot and they got covered in ticks, so I get the feeling when your spot got abused with trash. Too bad, the good things never last.
