I'm supposed to be heading up to Lady Evelyn for a few days of fishing near the end of the month. Looks like there is a good sized forest fire burning away just to the north of the park... does anyone have any info on smoke conditions in that area? I'm hoping that the big dump of rain that seemed to hit that area would have squashed the fire a bit.

Burn bans still in place most of Ontario. When I checked yesterday. Call a local outfitter?

You could even probably call/email the local OPP station or fire station just to check for safety reasons. Hopefully with the recent rain all this will change and you will be good to go.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I ended up calling two fishing lodges that operate on the lake. Both said that the air is "a little hazy" but not too bad. The farthest Northwest portion of the park are closed due to fire proximity but the areas I want to be are still open. I guess it will have to be a game time decision!

Interestingly... the Ontario fire map website shows the fire is still burning and 2300 ha, however, this website https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/ seems to show no fire in that area.

While I have your attention - does anyone have any tips for finding the walleye this time of year? I have next-to-zero experience with walleye fishing and I would like to expand my experience with walleye eating as well
