we made it up again for 6 days a couple of weks ago and the weather and bugs were all over the place including the smoke from fires

still, a very enjoyable trip with some decent laker fishing.....most came on swimbaits in 35 fow on a nice hump off deeper water..best bites were at 9 to 10 am and then again around 6-8 pm

saw lots of wildlife including eagles and a deer swimming to an island about 70 feet from me

on sunny days you could sit outside from 10 to 6 pm, other times mosquitoes were hungry

nesting birds everywhere and we have some Orioles for first time in years

now the bad parts were.....our lawn was demolished from 2 pair of geese and goslings plus some moles........it's fixable

the worst part is when we got there.....we are water access and store a boat there as do others.unfortunately some a holes decided to try and take it either for a ride or permanently and we saw this when we arrived....had to drive back out and visit a local friend to borrow a cutting tool to get the lock off and replace...........just irks me on how much this is going on for past few years.

the good news is that there were cameras set up and the misfits were recorded, including their vehicle.....all the info was sent to the police and they have made progress

all in all, a great time.......lastly after taking the pics at the boat location I dropped my phone in the lake and it took 4 days to dry it out,so no fish pics this time

Nice report, you had time to get out and find some lakers at least. Probably someone wanting to use your boat, I’d think any thief who really wanted it would just carry around proper bolt cutters or a cordless angle grinder and have no problems. Still, good the police are on it.

Glad you enjoyed the cottage.

Sorry about the boat lock issue. More and more people are getting desperate and turning to crime. It’s a sad state and I hope the police can make progress to stop them.

Sorry to hear things like this. The damage to the lock was it done by a gun shot?

Glad you got to the cottage. Sorry about the boat trouble but theft and mischief is becoming more common. Hopefully the police catch the culprits..It does look like the damage to your lock was done with a gunshot.

The smoke has been thick. My daughter said you couldn’t see across Boshkung lake and that’s only 800 meters. Thankfully it has disapated lately.

At least you got into some lakers.

At least the cameras will get them hopefully. A lot of these incidents are repeat offenders I’m sure and need to be caught.

If the police make an arrest it would be great if the victim got to dish out the punishment. Hoping the cop get them. Cheers

Unfortunately these things happen more and more often lately and property theft is on the rise

Hopefully those thieves will get caught and put away for long time .

Sorry to hear about your phone as well , happened to me a few years back so now I always keep it in a zipped pocket or in a pouch.

It's good that despite all those things you had a good time and caught some fish

i know it was not the same for you and family. Things happen and we have to live through them so hopefully this bad streak is over for you.

Cheers.

......ya, for sure it was from a shotgun trying to blow open the lock........it's happened before

In the end we are quite resiliant so this type of stuff does not make us lose any sleep.

I forgot to mention that when we got there it was the end of that heat wave and the surface temps were 72 on day1 and with that colder weather on day 6 it was 61. the lake trout were all from 2 to 6 pounds and very active shooting up tobait schools around 16 feet down...nice to see

bass were actively nesting at usual spots as well as sunnies......snapping turtles on the move as well

I did go chase some rock bass and we had a great dinner while there

can't waitto get back when everything is open........topwater time for me

Love how you always role with the punches. You did not let it ruin your time away. When something like that happens in life, it can usually be resolved. Hopefully the authorities solve the crime.
