Was just reading the regs and was surprised to see bass opens 3rd Sat in June in 17? Anyone know why? When was this changed? Always knew bass opens last sat in June

No not for a couple years but remember it was last Sat. Did not know they changed it. I have old reg books the printed ones used to get at LCBO now I am going to check them. It does not matter though I usually fish bass in July.

Going fishing in a few minutes JB. Drive up and fish all night, then drive back. I would like to bring a couple bass, and a couple walleye, and some crappie back to the house for a BBQ. We will see what Mother Nature has planned for me.

Thanks for the invite, CM, but I would not be able to make it tonight or in the next couple days.

I had a window yesterday in the afternoon so was able to sneak out fishing for a few hours for my bass opener to improve my pitching and flipping skills.
Did not have time to drive too far so went to Canal. The weather was sunny and hazy with almost no wind. The water temps were 25-27C
The fish was finicky but I was still able to convince a couple dozen bass to bite. Most of the bass was on a smaller side with a few 3 pounders.
Yamamoto worm (as usual) made most of the damage but I tried a few other lures as well. Top waters were not producing much although I caught a couple on a popper and one bass in the slop on a frog.
The bigger bass was as usual in the thicker weeds with some lily pads on top and it was biting mostly around sunset
Summer is finally here and weather is looking good.
One of the first bass of 2023 season (not the biggest one caught)
