Fourth time up to the lake this season. Started fishing two hours before the sun set. Tons of perch everywhere. No size to them, the usual 6,7, and one at eight inches. I never keep perch anyways, just glad the minnows and perch are around to create the perfect environment for the bigger fish to hunt. The bass showed up an hour before the sun set. Many many small bass between 12 and 15 inches. They were hitting anything given to them. Cast something out there and catch a perch or a bass almost every time. There was a few bigger ones so I kept two of them. After dark the bass were still hungry, and the walleye and crappie showed up as well. One big walleye over the slot, and quite a few smaller ones around 16 inches. One about 19.5 inches that was kept. The 16 inchers were let go to put on weight for the fall fishing. Had an unfortunate small bass that I damaged severely so it had to be kept. I hate hurting small fish. The bass went to sleep around midnight, but there was plenty of crappie and walleye to keep me busy. Just like last trip, the fish were very active. No muskie last night LOL. All the fish were very aggressive and seemed to like a quick retrieve. The bobber and plastic baits caught a few fish, but the crankbaits worked the best. Fished 2 feet under the surface in 8 feet to the shallow water shoreline. No mosquitoes because of a nice breeze from the east. It was hard to cast out very far, wind was right in my face around 15km per hour. The temperature went down to 14 degrees. The crappie were all about 11 and 12 inches, but like the walleye could have used some more weight. I will catch them again in the fall when they get bigger. No need to kill a fish just because it's long enough to keep. Fished until the sun came up, cleaned the fish and then drove home. Just woke up a bit ago. This weather is going to last for a few more days, so get out there if you can. The fish are hungry. Here is a few pictures. Good luck out there, and stay safe.

Thank you gentlemen. It was a lucky night with no bugs and hungry fish. The east wind continues until Friday. Wish I could have stayed to fish more. A few days in a row of consistent weather is always nice to see.

Thank you again for the comments. It really was a lucky night to be out fishing. No bugs...lots of fish. I did not see a soul for twelve hours. Just the loons singing in the dark and the night breeze on my face.
