I used to go to Stoney Lake years ago, launch at Carveth's Marina and fish the bays that had cabbage weed. I haven't been back for years but I seem to recall that area was getting inundated with that slimy weed covering. Anyone care to comment on the area from more recent experience?

I have been fishing Stoney for 45 years. Originally as a cottager and now as a resident. Like most of the Kawartha Lakes the weeds are more abundant than they used to be. However, I would say most of Stoney is on the deeper side with islands and shoals that hold many fishing opportunities. That said even some of the shallower bays such as Gilchrist Bay or South Bay are in the same depth range as most of Rice Lake with weed lines holding plenty of fishing opportunities.

Thanks MasterCaster1 for your reply. Hamilton Bay area is one area I used to go, not far from the launch. So is my recollection of the slimy weed (algae?) covering rocks not accurate? I hope so.
I haven't done much fishing for too many years so going to try and get back into it more.
