Nice day out today. Put the boat in at Promenade in Port Credit 10:00 Am
Out to 190 feet of water, got the first one on the cheater about 60 feet down
A nice Small Salmon about 4 lb , turned the boat around back towards the port rod went off from 70 feet down and it was huge, large King north of 30lb good fight right to the boat leaped out about 3 times ran line on me at least 5 times.
I was alone and the net got tangled up with the cheater and hooked the port rigger cable, lost the fish on the side of the boat.
Half an hour later it went off again this time I had 2 Salmons on one line both the cheater and the main. Landed both kept one for the table about 5 lb and let the other go a small shaker. Got off the Water by 2:00 pm. The large King and 2 smaller ones hit the 4 inch wonder bread spoon the shaker was on a watermelon.

Thanks Metal., it was crazy fight I was at it for about 20 minutes, I spent about 5 minutes trying to free the net all tangled up while that fish was just crusing beside the boat . Then it decided to to swing back toward the back and rolled and got off. The hook was bent 90 degrees it was a Tank

That would be a heart break! You did well. Meat rigs didn't turn up much at Whitby today and the people who did get good bites were running spoons. Earlier in the week it was dynamite, though!

Great story. Sorry you lost the big King.

I was confused about what you kept as the pic you posted are both King Salmon.

I am not too familiar with smaller King Salmon, I have only caught a couple before and they were much larger, but these 2 small ones looked like Rainbows to me but I may be wrong.

Total correction to my Post. It looks like disco was right all the fish I got today are kings, I just checked and they both have Black gums, wow it’s crazy how much they looked like Rainbows when I just pulled them out of the water.

No big deal mistaking ID.
Always super important to learn ID for future fishing trips. 👍🏻. Black mouth is the dead giveaway.

Still great fish. Congrats on a good trip.

Great story on the big fish. Netting them alone would be very difficult. Nice pair of salmon to keep though.
