River fishing

We got out with buddy this morning. Forecast was for no rain and radar showed no clouds. Well it was really dark for no clouds and rained on us 3 times. Anyway we got 4 walleye and 2 really big catfish. 1 walleye trolling and the other 3 jigging. The cats were both caught trolling. Boy those cats can fight, I'd get it up to about 15ft then off they go to the bottom taking out 20ft of line. The cats were 28 and 30" in length.

What do the cats taste like , I won’t even let those slimy things in my net just pop them off beside the boat

I marinade and smoke them the same as I do salmon and they taste just as good. Since I have to buy salmon as I don't catch them this is a good use for them. My marinade is almost the same as the indian candy recipe. If you have a smoker you should try it. I cut the fillets horizontally so they are about half inch thick or less.

I love catfish fillets. Blackened catfish is amazing.

well the 2 catfish are all smoked, only 1 plate of meat left at wife and I stopped eating it as it came in the house.
