Hi folks....
Was out yesterday and ran into a very tough grind.......the winds have pushed in very cold water as in surface temps of 66 degrees max and the down temperatures from 12-70 feet were 41-43 degrees............not good
tried shallow right out to 300 fow and same thing
to make matters worse there is a ton of grass both on the surface and suspended, so during the whole trip we had to constantly clear lines.....that stuff was on all baits even with a dipsey or a flasher up front, grass was on the hooks yuk!
most guys packed it in by 9 am or so as there was no bait and hooks were scarce
we did manage 10 bites with 3 decent fish in the box...rest unbuttoned. had one dipsey hit with a fish that burned out 317 feet before it just came off .heartbreaker
posting this just to show how unpredictable the lake can be........oh, and did I mention the rain
anyhow, not going out till conditions stabilize somewhat
some salmon are being caught off the pie at night, so definatly they are poking in
If you are thinking of heading out, I would wait as well or let me/us know if that grass lets up at least.......good luck

Good report.
I went out on Tuesday on North shore (Whitby.) Got one 11 lbs Coho (380 FOW) and one 8 lbs Chinook. What a crap day. surface 53f, 30ft down @ 41f.
Wednesday was no better, but found the warm water in 30 FOW with lots of bait and hooks. Buddy and I got a few and had 5 hits. Still crap, though.. they weren't even stagers in at 30 FOW.. just 2nd and 3rd years trying to stay warm.
Going out Friday as I hear the water is getting warmer. Sooner or later they need to turn on.

oh, it's been quite good out there.......but every time we get those NE winds it just destroys the water here and also seems to bring the river grass into play for a while

We were playing in the grass last night, it was brutal, there haven’t been too many fleas though which is nice. Fishings been great this year, and I’ve been lucky to get out a couple times a week. Put a lot more effort into my meat/fake meat program which has been a lot of fun too. Hopefully a few more trips to come!

North shore around Whitby:
- Last week, for 3 days we had 50-ish f on top and from 20ft down to 100 feet it was 41f- for 40 square km - Last week, for 3 days after that, we had 67f from top down to 100 feet - for 40 square km.
Only thing people were getting is Coho, bows, and the odd small king.
Finally yesterday that broke, and 55f water was found 120ft down in 150 FOW and they turned on. Got lots of fish, and a 23 lber to top the year off.
