Port Hope boat ramp

Wanting to launch at Port Hope this weekend. I remember reading on this board that access to the lake can be tricky. What side of the river do I stay on to go out into the lake?
Tried to search previous posts, but came up empty.

everyone uses the west side, ton of people fishing off the east wall below the boat launch right now anyways
