Been having a blast this year. Fished Sept. 9 and 3rd for 5 hours each starting at 6:15 am. Landed 16 with a bunch lost of missed hits. Early till 1 hour after sun up, the finders screen is loaded from 25 to 40 feet, then most of them disappear. Usually find them in 50 - 70 feet on bottom later in the morning.
Favorite baits are Livetarget smelt and reefrunner barbie. Comparing the Ganaraska fish counter to last year, the bite should still be good for a couple of weeks.

Awesome fish. Are most of them dark like that now? Or still getting the odd light coloured one? No lakers mixed in?

Flat lining is all you have to do. The salmon are rolling and jumping all around from 20 to 50 feet. I see other boats using riggers to use spoons and flasher flies in this depth and they are catching fish also. I use my dipsy in 40 to 60 feet but get more hits in the top 20 feet with the crankbaits. Once they sit on bottom I find them hard to catch.
Most of the fish are dark with the occasional one half silver. Here is one mostly silver. Might be a coho?

I think that’s just a small chinook looking at the spots

1000% that fish is a small male Coho.
Spot on the tail tell the story easily. Leading edges of the tail top and bottom have spot but the rest of the tail has zero spots. Chinook have completely spotted tails. Also those spots on the back of the coho are dead on for a coho.
In addition Coho have white gums which this fish does.
Anal fin angle is another way to ID a coho. Check all indicators as this Coho is easily identifiable. 👍🏻
