Hi Folks:
Extending a happy New Year and all the best in 2024 to all our friends on this site and/or fellow fishing and boating enthusiasts.
We were out on the lake from Island Grove on New Year's eve and there was no ice in sight, in fact open water in all directions as far as the eye could see.
Planning to take the boat out for a final spin Monday January 8th before trailering it for the season - unless the long range weather still hovers at or above zero.
I personally believe we have pulled our boat a few years back as late as the 3rd week of January and still enjoyed SOME winter time out on the ice. Hoping to see a week of -10C for 7-10 days without any snow or wind which would be sure to provide a good start to ice formation.

Happy New Year Nancy, thanks for the water report. lol Can't wait for your ice report. With a look a the long range forecast Im thinking we'll be on the ice first week of February.

Hi Dougger - totally agree the start of hard water season is likely to be at best the final week of January or early February. Hopefully, once the ice starts to form there will be little snow fall or strong winds - which should help create good clear ice ASAP.
We are not planning to be out on the lake as much this season but I will continue to post the lake/ice conditions in the Island Grove area when we are out and about.
