I am not one for taking pictures of Chinook in the rivers. That said I will make an exception for this one. After work tonight I hit the river with some friends. We caught several fresh Cohos and a couple of Steelhead and browns. At the end of the evening a hit a Chinook like we used to see regularly back in the 80’s. Since I haven’t seen one this size in a couple of decades I thought I would share.

43” length x 24.25” girth. On line calculator I used had it just a hair under 33lbs. IMO it was just about dead on as I had guessed 32 or so before measuring and using the calculator.

Hopefully you can see I was t straight arming this one, not that I could if I wanted to anyway. 😂

Thats a tank. I also remember the 80's when 30 pound plus salmon were common. Great pictures and great fishing. Congrats.

That is quite a fish. The average person may go for their daily walk by that spot and just see a stream. You never know what monsters lurk just under the surface. Great pictures.

that is a beauty for sure, no much white on it so must be fairly fresh in the river. Like others I can remember getting big ones in a river, what I fight, but don't think I ever got one that big.

Those teeth are gnarly! What a beast. Crazy to know all those spawning salmon are doomed once they do the deed. Salmon must eat soooooo much to grow that fast!

Wow! It must have taken quite a while to land that one. What were you using, maybe 6 or 8# test?

I was using 8#.

That tent house is just where I landed it. I hooked it up stream in a nice deep run.
