@simcoeslayer77 Great looking Bugs. I have been doing a lot of research on the materials used other than using the Latex Nymph Skin. I have read about using Dollar Store stretch cord that's used for bracelet making, catgut sutures. hollow micro stretch tubing, satin cord and flat 2 tone mylar tinsel which I have seen mfgd. in sizes 0.5mm, 1mm and 2mm. What are you using.
Today’s Bugs are unlike Leon Maloney’s who was the Perch king after guiding for over 30yrs on Lake Simcoe. He was the originator of the Simcoe Bug. His SB was incredibly simple to tie. with a weighted hook, a bulky tapered body using coloured threads or thin diameter yarn with a rib and shiny coating.

Thanks for everyone's interest and support. I will order some more tungsten beads for the bugz and if time allows, possibly have a limited run available by next weekend. I will post the details in the buy and sell when available.

Very nice. Great craftsmanship and great names to boot!! . To my untrained eye the gaps look a bit small. Are you using wide gap 'scud' type of hooks? BTW----what is the body material?

[QUOTE=simcoeslayer77,Jan 30, 2024 - 08:50 pm] I know they are "Simcoe" specific and i am a Nip guy but i am thinking there is crossover here. Maybe we need to come up with a "Nip" bug.
Put a beating on the perch up at Nip this weekend jigging shiners but had to stop at 73 keepers because i was out of bait. Some kind of Nip bug might have allowed me to keep going.
I'm not sure how far away from Simcoe these work, but Mykola in H'burton seems to do quite well with them. I believe that SI flies sells them in the USA as well.

[QUOTE=Species8472,Jan 30, 2024 - 11:30 pm]o. I always keep some Berkley Power worms and grubs on hand for such an event. I barely use shiners anymore @ $6.00 a dozen.
Not to hijack too much, but what sort of Power worms----the straight ones or the kind with twister tails? Not much luck with shiners yesterday so looking for something that might work. I am trying to get some Simcoe Bugs as well.. TIA

I think the biggest difference that may or may not affect things is the water clarity. I have the impression that Simcoe has much better clarity than Nip. Nip is pretty murky even on the best of days.
