Ice gods willing Jan 1st so 18 days. Probs Callander Bay but if there is enough ice i will ride out all the way to the Manitous
that is where the best fishing is especially for jumbo perch in the 40 -45 feet of water as well as good walleye fishing on the upward shoal. Fished many years there when the Franklin Dunrovin the blue dolphin and the glenwood Unfortunately no operators fish there any more A few years back the waltonian had a hut there but they no longer run icefishing packages any more.

Manitous - Limit of perch last January plus a few others in 4 hours:
Ice was horrible last year and only made it out that far twice but fishing both times was off the charts.

Looking at the long term forecast I hope the weatherman is wrong….
I think the forecast looks good. Half a day at plus 3 or 4 with 1/4 inch of rain. Should be just enough to clean off the snow and smooth out some rough spots. That gets followed with 5 or 6 days of negative teens and twenties. With snow gone that will build lots.
Past a week the forecast is meh but they aren't accurate that far ahead so time will tell.

Man, what a haul.
LOL! That's what the MNR said when i got checked coming off the ice. Only time fishing or hunting where CO took a picture of my catch. One of the few times when i couldn't fit all my fish in my cooler.

Good morning, all. I was hoping for some help on finding spots to park around Callander Bay. I’m about 5 hours away and would like to set up the Otter with my kids, but I’ve never been to this area. Enthusiastically watching ice reports and getting gear ready, so any help would be appreciated. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Thanks again
Centennial Park in Callander has free parking. Right on the lake and easy walk to fishable water. Don't think you can park overnight though if that is an issue for you.
