Got to Rob’s 5 Stars at 11am yesterday. Here for 3 nights.
Plenty of ice
I’m in 17’. Except for the last hour I’ve been marking fish steady. 28 Walleye. 2x19”, 8 in the slot and none really that small. Got 30” pike and 3 jumbo perch. Got one on ice, ate one for breakfast
Yesterday started with lots of action but only bumps and nudges. Not many committed. It was steady. Went to bed happy with 16.
Got up and a fish took my lure on the first drop. Glow in the dark insanity pepper dinner bell with minnow head.
Fewer fish today but they seem more aggressive. Until the last hour that is.
I honestly just paused typing to catch another walleye.
Except for an increase in success with glow in the dark I can’t pinpoint a single lure or colour. They all seem to work.
Shout out to Kokemachine. Several fish have been caught on his minnow clapper. I find it a good change of pace to throw down the hole.

I’m back up with them early March too. I’m back in 2 weeks as well and booked elsewhere mid Feb. 4 trips in total for me this year! Day 2 (11am-11am) seemed more difficult. The bite seemed harder, and tough to get them to commit and 50% or more were caught on the deadstick but I actually caught more fish.
After 2 days I’m at 40 walleye (I actually think I’m under counting), 1 pike and 3-4 perch (jumbos). It has been a lot of deadstick hits. Plenty of follows on the Humminbird but at best you get a nudge or bump. Nothing commiting on moving target.
Most follows on a red and gold dinner bell but as usual for me I don’t see a lure or colour that’s making big difference. Rattle bait drew attention but no hits.
I’ve had 8 in the slot. I’ve eaten 2. 2 on ice. Kept 3 perch. Would like a nice pike now!

The front certainly changed everything. Fewer fish and they were picky!!! None on the jigging rod. I caught another dozen on the deadstick tho. Love that sound of the Finicky Fooler flag going off!
I cannot complain. 3 days. 52 total
The fooler went off repeatedly with the buggers just gumming the bait so I bet I missed another dozen. They did not want to commit.
Great trip. Decent hut. Good service. Fantastic fishing.
