I didn't know this, but it seems Simcoe angling community is graced with the presence of Kings!

For the most part, we're all lowly peasants who are polite to each other and yield to other boats. But then there are those who parade right up through the middle of a group like his Majesty, don't think twice of cruising by an anchored boat while making a wake you could surf on or they fish so close I could land a 1/4oz jig on their bow.

It's a big lake, people. I get that perch tend to be in schools and you often need to be near other boats to be where the fish are, but there's a limit and that limit is at least 2x casting distance. Respect it.

ya, ya, same post, every year... but maybe each year one person gets the message so it's worth saying every year.

I suppose it is but it is perch fishing mind you.........I get your point but 2 casts is kind of not working for me..........easily cast 80 feet, so that 160 or more

sometimes there is a benefit to fishing tighter to keep the active fish around you

Whynot, you’re not winning that argument in Simcoe ever.

I am not a pack fishermen either so if you don’t want to fish in a pack just don’t fish in a pack.
The odd time I have been fishing and a pack forms around me just tolerate it and go about what you’re doing until you have your fill and then move again.
You shouldn't have to move I and get respectful distance but that’s just not going to happen on Simcoe on the many community spots.
Good news is Simcoe is huge and there are so many perch spots where you would be challenged to find another boat.

I'll concede there's a difference between being close when fishing and the guys who motor straight through the group, the latter of which is nothing but rude. Want to fish the other side of the group? Either go around or make your way slowly on trolling motor, there's no excuse to run on outboard with your nose sky high and a freighter wake behind you right through the middle of the group of boats that are already too tight for the conditions.

Is two cast lengths too much? Sure. At least one flip cast length then, or don't give me stink eye when my bait lands beside your boat, in the same spot where I've been casting long before you put your boat in that spot.

If there's 40 boats out on a given day, 38 are respectful anglers, 1 can't control their boat and there's usually one utter dick. I'm talking to that guy in this thread!

Oh ya I completely agree with being on the main motor right in the pack.

Same with someone fishing in the pack and starting the main to leave. Trolling motor is the only way to leave the pack. Only exception is someone without a trolling motor. Then idle out.

Respectfully @longshank...it's seems the point is missed.....
Ultimately, if I'm not mistaken, he's speaking of general etiquette and courtesy not exact measurements.
I do think there's a difference between siddling in close, non-aggressive and respectfully vs obnoxiously

No, I did not miss the point at all, but as mentioned it is Simcoe and this one comes up every year

I certainly agree with the boats running through the pack and I also don't like close proximity, so I just don't do it

my point was 2 casts......I can easily cast 80 to 100 feet, so up to 200 feet is quite a respectable distance.

but I do get the gist of the message and hopefully 1 or 2 anglers will learn and respect a reasonable distance

all good

You hardly need to cast for perch in Simcoe. Just use your trolling motor to move around a few feet to find'em if your fishing with a group of boats over schools of perch. Running through a group with a big wake behind you is a whole different story.

It is what it is on simcoe during the spring perch run in community holes, a crap show so to speak but everyone catching fish. I’ll be honest the fact that half the guys out there have livescope is the bigger issue , no longer is just spot lock / anchor and fan cast but guys are chasing schools through the group.
